[Solved] First theme - Why on Local Server?

I have read that I should work on a theme on my local box - Local Server? Why?

I have a dev environment for this kind of thing. Any reason why this is a bad idea?

    If you have a dev environment, then it is fine.

    The idea is, users should not be able to see the progress untill work is completely done.
    Morever, localhost is fast and gives you lot of flexibility.
