Undoing a file overwrite in windows (xp)

So i just downloaded a file off my server and clicked ok to overwrite the previous file without thinking. Now i have a week old copy of a file i'd done a load of work on. Is there any way i can get the old file back?

    You might be able to do it with a file recovery program but all the good ones are money and the demo only tells you that there's files. I haven't found a good one.

    also there's only a 50/50 chance of getting the file back.

    I'd say much less than 50/50, since it probably used the same sectors to write the new file, unless is was much smaller.
