So when I try to register, it says that the e-mail was sent, I'm using a @live.com account to send e-mails but nothing happens, I didn't install a mail server on my dedicated server either, I don't know if that is necessary. any suggestions?

Does your server support
mail? You may need to ask your hosting provider.Of course, also check your spam folder. You might try another email service to test further.
live or hotmail smtp outgoing email sending works ok. I also have this setup with my vanilla installation. Make sure you configure the following to:
smtp host: smtp.live.com
smtp port: 587
smtp security: TLS
