Membership application

I have version 1 pre3 installed, and I have the settings so members are granted immediate access without administrative approval. The problem is, after applying for membership, they still get the "membership will be reviewed" message rather than "registration accepted", even though they are able to log in immediately.

    Open up your conf/settings.php file and make sure that (A) your ALLOW_IMMEDIATE_ACCESS setting is defined and set to 1, (B) your FORWARD_VALIDATED_USER_URL is set to send them to the discussion list.

    D'oh. I hadn't deleted the setup folder yet. Once I did that, the signups worked properly. (Incidentally, the settings were okay.) Thanks. Happy Canada Day!

    My problem is similar. I have no problem with a new applicant being directed to the discussions after signing up (I am using the CAPTCHA add-on and am assigning new applicants the role of "member"). My problem is that the text of the application page still states/infers that the applicant will not be granted immediate access to the forum (after typing in the the CAPTCHA code) when, in fact, they are granted access directly. Is there access to the text of the application page and can it be edited?

    All visible text is accessible through /languages/english/definitions.php

    Thanks! Found it. I ignored the dire warnings about not editing the page. Now it looks much closer to what I want and properly reflects what the user can expect once the form is filled out.

    FYI: the dire warnings mean that your changes will be lost if the file gets replaced when you next update Vanilla. If you copy the modified lines into conf/language.php, then the changes will remain through updates. (you don't have to change them in definitions.php, the language.php lines will overwrite the factory-default settings.)
