user cant post after upgrade ?

I have one member (and so far only one) who can no longer start threads. He can post replies but cant start his own discussions.
Hes not a dummy so Im guessing hes right. He lost his abilty after i upgraded to v1

any suggestions ?
Just tried it again. The 'start discussion' screen appears, but only for 1 second - then it goes blank. I'm using IE

    Try a different browser for debugging purposes?

    Is that user under a role in which starting new discussions is not activated? double check the users role and see if they even have that ability.
