What's next with Vanilla and the project?

    *inhale*

I don't like to release tons of versions one after another - it tends to annoy people to do so. I don't have any immediate plans for Vanilla. The one thing that came up recently was that someone wanted to replace Vanilla's current theme-ing engine with Smarty, and I'm very interested to see what comes of that.

For Lussumo: this weekend I'm starting work on a new project that doesn't have a name yet. It won't be open-source, but it will be really cool and useful.

For the record, I've got a beta version of MiniVanilli running on a test forum with some friends, and it's looking pretty good.
  • "What are we going to do tonight, Brain?"
"The same thing we do every night, Pinky... Plan to take over the world."
  • RUNNING ON A TEST FORUM WITH SOME FRIENDS?! AND I WASNT INVITED!!! AFTER ALL I'VE DONE FOR YOU! *runs off sobbing

hahaha Remember "The Council"? Well, that's who's on it - minus one member.
  • Errr...only vaguely...

The main problem is that it hasn't been tested thoroughly on different browsers. I don't want to release it in a messy state like this, but I don't know how long it will take me to repair the problems. Are you interested in cssing it up a bit?
  • Me? I've never touched css in my life :(
  • Which browsers are you trying to support?

The big ones - ff, ie, safari, possibly Oprah
  • The latter lost a lot of weight though (Oprah Mini) -- pun intended

More seriously... please don't forget to test MiniVanilli on PDAs (BBerry & such)
  • Well, I can view/test on ff (pc/mac), ie(6/7) and safari if you like. I can possibly fix errors too, if that's what you need.

With all of the problems in the vanilla 1.1.x release, I'm thinking I want to wait until we stop finding errors and changing theme files. I'm hoping that happens by 1.1.2 - then maybe I'll upload it to the addons site as a beta.
