People session variables

I've checked out the people files, and apparently it's just a little over my head. I'm integrating vanilla with an existing app,and they are both sharing the same database. My problem is that I can't figure out which session variables need to be passed on to the vanilla people authenticator in order for the user to stay signed in when entering the forums. any help? thanks!

    ok, so less than two minutes after posting this, I figured it out, for anyone else, all that needs to be passed is the 'user id' in the form of SESSION_USER_IDENTIFIER session variable.
