Getting Started With Vanilla

Excuse my ignorance, but I would appreciate it if someone could advise me how to set up a Vanilla forum once I've downloaded Vanilla 1.1.2. I visited the Lussomo video tutorial, which is very well done, unfortunately, I still seem to be experiencing difficulties with the permissions. Thank you for helping out a beginner.
