First and Last Names instead of Name on Whisper

Is it possible to change Vanilla configuration in order to use FirstName and LastName fields instead of "name" on Whisper suggestions?

I guess in theory it's possible but it would be a lot of work. Why dont you just use first and last names as usernames in the first place?
