Registration fields

I think in the pre-Vanilla 1 forum there was an extra form field called "why do you want to join?" Has this function been removed in V1 or is it just hidden somewhere? I would like to customize it or add another field for the registration application and I'm hoping it's not too hard to do. Thanks

    I am looking to modify the registration form, I want to add address, phone etc.....how can I do this at the time of sign up and not wait until approved to get them into a profile page?
