Re: New (experimental) feature in the AFC plugin - Event handler priority
Great addition to the functionality! I've built two plugins where I had to change the "priority" by renaming the plugin which is really ugly. I had to do some lookup on annotations and found that presentation: http://slideshare.net/rdohms/annotations-in-php-they-exist-38513622 and I think that using annotations in such an… -
Re: PHP Version
@skatedebate Your hoster is real bad if they let you run PHP 7.0. And that they have updated you to 7.1 is not even better. Both PHP versions are out of support and must be considered as insecure. If you want to stay with those guys, ask them to update to PHP 7.4. I guess the error 500 comes from missing PHP extensions.… -
Re: 2.5 dashboard organization
Since it would be really easy to create a custom dashboard theme where you could a) stuff everything on one page and b) order it the way you like, I don't understand the need for having some configuration options. Vanilla is not about providing as much triggers and knobs as possible. It's strength lies in providing an… -
Re: Refresh an asset with AJAX
We don't currently have a way to pick individual assets or modules in a standardized way. To grab a module you can usually go through the module controller. So as an example you could do the following: $('.BoxCategories').get(gdn.url('/module/categoriesmodule?DeliveryType=VIEW')); The message module is a bit tougher since… -
Looking for plugins
Hi, I've been going through the downloadable plugins for several hours now, but I can't find what I was looking for. Maybe somebody here who has been more active on this forum knows something? I'm looking for Email notifications once a day (now we get an email every time something has been written) A 'select all' option to… -
Re: Frequently Asked Questions
- 23 How do I change the maximum size for file uploads, pictures, etc ? you can add a config statement (or modify it if it exists already) in /conf/config.php e.g. config statement below would set a max size of 8 MB $Configuration['Garden']['Upload']['MaxFileSize']= '8M'; However, there may be a limitation set via php. you… -
Re: How to implement a confidential category?
@Linc Thank you for your advice which really is much appreciated. Thanks to Bleistivt who pointed a way forward and to R_J who posted an example to follow I now have the basics in place as an extension to your Resolved plugin. Almost hole in one so little credit to me. I am hoping to avoid the ramifications you mention in… -
Re: Is vanillaforums development dead/dying?
Thanks for all the insight. When I started looking at Vanilla months ago, I found out about the commercial aspect of it and thought "Oh wow, that's how an open source forum can survive. With an open source-commercial service hybrid model. It makes all the sense in the world." I had a call with a Vanilla (commercial) rep… -
Re: Why did you choose Vanilla ?
After trying Bulletin Board and SMF and Discus and others, I found Vanilla and stayed with it because of it's simplicity and user friendliness. Coming from a background with some CSS and HTML knowledge I was able to learn PHP and JS as I learned how to make themes and plugins for myself. I have not encountered anything… -
Re: I'm not a hobbyist...
sorry but what is not open source about hobbies?. Balderdash. OS is everything from rank amateur, to highly professional. Many os stuff is for the hobbyist and by extension professional for example Processing and Arduino. I hate people who try to pigeonhole OS (yes that includes GPL extremists). I have never really had a…
