Re: Can the people who frequently use this forum please respect all users when they comment?
I can do all that... but there should be a collaboration for plug-ins. Instead of one guy doing this his way and another his, Vanilla can point the direction it decides to accept and the plug-ins should conform to that technology. If Vanilla has a html - CSS page for everything, just fill in the field it would be cool. But… -
Re: VanillaHtmlFormatter: how to customize, add attributes and class
The source for fetching a configuration value is more complex than I wish it was. https://github.com/vanilla/vanilla/blob/master/library/core/class.configuration.php#L344-L364 In particular the explode() in there is O(n). Not a big deal unless you're using it 100's or 1000's or 10's of 1000's of times in a page request.… -
Re: Getting protected info from Sender object. DEMystification help assist needed.
You're right that what I posted won't work. I couldn't check half an hour ago. The error shows up in 2.0.18.8 and 2.1b2 as well if you use that code. The var_dump you had in the first post shows user data results. That doesn't seem to be there by default in either 2.0.18.8 or 2.1b2 and looks like something you injected in.… -
Re: Articles Idea: Category-Based Permission Model
I see three options: * Articles remain independent, but as long as Vanilla is installed a new article automatically comes with a related discussion e.g. in the category the article is published in. I have seen this apporach on reputable news websites. * Using the embedded comments feature of Vanilla for articles. * Your… -
Re: Let users choose which theme they want to use
Well, that's a good idea too. Thanks for your reply! I forgot all about It, but saw it then I updated my account. Cause of the migration from esoTalk to Vanilla, I did try to build the option by myself (With support from another friend). Check it out : http://vanillaforums.org/addon/themechooser-plugin It's very basic… -
Re: Error 500, version 2.0.18.4
@Dub Personally, I would clone the current site into a new folder on your web server, clone the DB (plus make a back up) and do the upgrade on the clone. This allows your current site to stay live while you get to sort out any issues You would need to point conf/config.php in the cloned version to your cloned DB, and… -
Re: Ideas of the community to change plugin system to enable plugin fixes
^^ I like this idea! ^^ This seems quite doable. Although slight detail, I'd say the check happens when someone opens that plugin page after X time, not that after X time all plugins in the addon section are refreshed. Would also solve the problem of the "plugins mantained by the Vanilla staff" automatization. ^^ I… -
Re: Any plugin conversion tool available/necessary for Vanilla 2.5?
For my own use I've created this plugin: https://github.com/Caylus/PluginFixer/blob/master/class.PluginFixer.php You download a zip file from the addon section, go to the settings page of this plugin, upload the zip file and download a "fixed" zip file. It basically creates a addon.json file inside the zip file, and makes… -
Re: Call Method from Multiple Implementations
@R_J, that might be cleaner than storing their class names in an array, which I used for retrieving each shared instance that gets instantiated when get($className) is called on the Garden container. In both cases, the files would still have to be loaded/required from the "FunImplementations" folder, but the Loader code… -
Re: I get internal error when starting a new discussion
PHP Version 7.0.10 Original If you modify this file then change the above line to: # Modified RewriteEngine On # Certain hosts may require the following line. # If vanilla is in a subfolder then you need to specify it after the /. # (ex. You put Vanilla in /forum so change the next line to: RewriteBase /fo$ RewriteBase…
