Re: Delegating simple plugin updates for 2.5
What I do not like: There are several reasons why I consider changing the plugin of another person as a no-go. I even consider it a waste of time talking about that. Call it some freakish developer-codex... Also, I didn't want to find several plugins that do exactly the same thing, but one is working with version X, the… -
Re: What controls My Discussions in v3.3?
Just look what I have found! I really don't know why I have toyed around with it, but I threw together that sample at some day in the past. There is no real usecase for exactly that code, but it makes up a very good reference, I'd say! public function discussionsController_invited_create($sender, $Page = '0') { // return;… -
Re: What is the best approach for SSO and resource consumption via API v2?
That's the official documentation so if they say it's like that, I'd trust them! On the other hand, if you know what you are doing you can do everything. The main risk I see when not using the forum create user feature is that you might be missing restrictions which are made by any part of the framework or a plugin that… -
Re: How to setup EmailDiscussion plugin to use SMTP server at Settings > Outgoing Email
For those people who stumble in here, read the above with lots of CAVEATS or you might run into issues. Be very, very, very careful if you delete the Deleted Users from the User Table. Under some circumstances it might be ok. BUT it is not advisable unless you understand the linkages between tables. If you delete a deleted… -
Re: Working with vf 3.1?
Naming Conventions In the past Vanilla was very forgiving when speaking about plugins class names and file names. There are a few combinations that worked in the past and currently still work. These two are the most secure: Standard until recently: Folder: FooBar File: class.foobar.plugin.php Class: FooBarPlugin Current… -
Re: Ideas for cleaning up views: view models, smarty blocks and template inheritance
When code is re-factored e.g structural and procedural changes occur (e.g. the new addon manager) developers need to understand their impact. Loading of pugins is done differently for example and that is quite different thing from just the new json format. Developer need time to change their code however are not going make… -
Re: On file permissions and uploading files
@vrijvlinder Man, woman, hermaphrodite, droid, bot ... who cares novadays... And what I supposed to do with that? I'm looking for working solution, not only technical description of my situation. And please keep in your mind that i'M LOOKING for it, not DEMANDING it! FYI - if you put wrong url there, you will get an error… -

Re: Vanilla 2.6 is coming! Are you ready?
@Linc hmmm...my biggest concern is the amount of breaking changes and where they are documented. I'm not even updating all clients to 2.5 yet. There have been breaking changes over the years and often you find many things out by accident it can be a daunting task updating addons. Like methods with swapped round parameters… -
Vanilla 2.8 release notes
@Linc announced the 2.8 release over a month ago. We had some some summary release notes, but the full notes had not yet been accumulated. I will be providing that here. First a couple notes: Vanilla 2.6 is no longer supported and has unpatched security vulnerabilities. It is recommended to upgrade as soon as possible. The…
