Turning Garden into a social network?

edited October 2009 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8
I'm planning to develop a software for a social network. In the beginning it should be just for a limited group of friends. Therefore I'm evaluating different PHP Frameworks. In the past I made some applications with CodeIgniter, but for the new project I want a PHP5-Framework. In first place I only thougt of KohanaPHP, Yiiframework and Zend Framework. During evaluation I came across Garden and there were some obvious points that for Gaden:
* Built-in forums ;)
* Fully implemented User Management
* The Documentation is way better than for Kohana3
* Open structure to implement plugins and new applications
* Large user base

Spending hours reading here in the forums I read that several posts that users are developing features for Garden already that hit towards the approach to turn Garden/V2 into a social network. Now I think that it doesn't make sense to reinvent the wheel and also to write those features. I would rather spend my spare time on developing other features and applications (event manager, groups, gallery, etc.).

Why did I start this topic? As I found information about matching addons in several posts, this could be a discussion where we collect the information and status of those addons in progress if users and developers are interested.

P.S.: As this is my first post here, I hope I put it into the right category.
