Category question

edited July 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
So here's the deal... I know you can make it so only people in a certain role can participate in a category, which is nice. I was wondering if there was a way you could setup a category so anybody could respond to it, but only people of a certain role could create a discussion in that category.

  • In the next revision, mark has mentioned he *might* be slipping a system like you have just explained. I know I've been asking for it for a little while as well as some other users. It should be interesting so just have a seat and wait :) 0.9.3 will be interesting.
  • Has there been any update on this issue? Specifically, is there any way to create a category in which only admins can create new discussions, but anybody can respond to those discussions?
  • there's no issue, currently the roles and categories in the main core are simple and well defined as they always have been. The only way to achive anything like this is via an extension(add-on) along with other changes.
