How to set SMTP Auth for Vanilla 2?

fputs() [function.fputs]: send of 12 bytes failed with errno=32 Broken pipe
The error occurred on or near: /var/www/library/vendors/phpmailer/class.smtp.php

I need to know how to configure Vanilla 2 with Google Mail SMTP, since it requires SMTPAuth on.
Anybody have any ideas?

As you might have been able to tell, we use another open source project to handle our smtp stuff in Vanilla 2 (php mailer). Maybe they have some documentation that can help you out?
