problem jumping to last read post in a thread

I'm having an issue that when I open a multipage thread I'm no longer able to go to the last read comment. I usually end up two or three pages back.

I have the "Jump to the last read comment when clicking on discussion topic" option checked, but still does not work. Any suggstions?
