BBCode Extension Problem

edited November 2005 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I've got the Extended BBCode installed and enabled in a forum I am setting up. However, the BBCode is not being rendered. Any message formatted in BBCode just comes through ast text. I've enabled/re-enabled the extension and deleted and re-installed it a couple times with no luck. Can anyone help me with this?

  • **Update It turns out that I was using caps in my BBCode ([IMG] instead of [img]). The existing BBCode extensions don't acount for this. If anyone is interested, I'm rewriting the extension to include upper and lowercase tags, as well as some other variations that are commonly used in *BB related forums.
  • I have a feeling this has been covered before....but i might be wrong. Try a couple of searches for it before you launch yourself into the work.
  • I did a some searches but didn't find anything specific to this problem, thanks though. Do you know if anyone is actively developing the standard BBCode insert tag button stuff? I personally can't stand BBCode or those Javascript utilites (I much prefer Textile or Markdown), but I'm going to have a hard time convincing forum users to use this new system without BBCode.
  • So far as i'm aware, no. The guy from planet tolkein (his username might be planettolkein?) (i think he was from there anyway) was talking about his massively extended smilies collection and some sort of auto input of them but i dunno if he's done any work on it or what. Other than that bbcode hasnt been talked about a great deal lately.
  • Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of building this feature but right now I'm trying to build a quoting function, which is taking precedent.
