Vnanilla is great but how can i integrate it with drupal?

    Probably best to wait for Vanilla 0.93 and the login system will be easier to use with other systems.

    Speaking of login systems, do you think it would be easier to do a joint Wordpress/Vanilla login system with the new version of Vanilla?

    undoubtedly. I suspect thats part of the reason mark did it (besides his client offering cash) - it's been a very popular request.

    I would love for option of integrating bits of the Vanilla system in to my site, since my site is not community pool, you can only have account and login for the forum, but I don't necessarily want to have the need to go to the forums to see if there is any interesting new posts. So I would like to integrate the Vanilla login to my site, and dump the most recent x number of posts at somewhere in the site, regardless of what kind of CMS I use. Am I making any sense at all? Oh and maybe have an option of posting all answers by some id so I could have my commenting system be handled by Vanilla, that would be tasty.

    Hi ynzheng, I am a Drupal developer, and I have to say that integration with the current version of vanilla is difficult (almost impossible for the inexperienced developer). Wait until the next release (should be soon), as previuosly mentioned, Mark has made some changes to the login system which will allow integration with other systems. When these changes are in place, it will be simple to use vanilla within/ next to Drupal. If you are using 'clean URLs', then you will have to edit the .htaccess file to tell Drupal to ignore the vanilla directory. As for what changes need to be made to the Data base, I can not say. Not until I see what chnages have been made. I will post back here when I test the changes when they are released. Sorry I can't be any more help, but it would be very difficult at this time. let me know if you need any further help at this time. (BTW: a new version of drupal will be released in a month or two, or should be anyway)

    Nathan: I've actually been working on a UrlBuilder module that should allow you to switch between "clean urls" and regular urls, but I'm not too happy with it at all. I'm wondering if drupal has something similar and if you had any thoughts on a better way to approach it.

    Integration with the Drupal user database would make my day. Vanilla is the perfect companion to Drupal.

    Mark: Drupal does in fact have something similar (practially the same). I have never touched this code, so I can't say how well it will suit your problem, but I can certainly find the code responsible for this functionality and send it your way.

    Wow, sorry if I'm bumping an old thread, but I would also love to see some ability to integrate Vanilla with something like Drupal or snews. Mainly, I want to have a CMS where the user database is the same between forum and say the cms comments and authorizing. Maybe I should be asking, when does the next version hit ;)

    When it comes? Sorry. That is all we have been told. I think. It should be easier when the next version comes out though, which I think is what you are getting at.

    Not just yet. I'm super busy for the next month and a bit. I haven't forgotten though and I will take a look at it in any spare time I have, but I can't promise anything.

    No one is working on it. so No Progress for a very long time
    It would be nice to post this request on Drupal forum and see if the developers are interested in Vanilla

    I'm going to be doing some (unrelated) development with drupal in the coming weeks. Of course I will be keeping this in mind as I get familiar with it - and hopefully it will be as easy to integrate as wordpress was.
