Email wont send

edited November 2005 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I tried 'applying for a membership' on my discussion board (http://discussions.takshimada.info/), and I never recieved an email notification on my admin account saying that there was a new application. Isn't that supposed to happen? Also, when you subscribe to a thread in Lussumo, does it notify you by email, or do you have to check back periodically? ALSO: the 'forgot password' doesn't email anything either.

  • The thread subscriptions (i assume you mean bookmarks) dont email, no. There are talks of extensions for this but they're yet to be finished. The applications will be emailed to any group of users who have 'notify of new applicants' (i believe thats the term) set in the group (role) settings. If it's not emailing anything, it sounds like a problem with your server. If you do a search you should be able to find a quick email testing script which people have made in the past to check their sendmail thing is working right. Try running that and see what happens.
  • Well, I figured out that i don't even have sendmail installed.... :-(, but I do have Postfix, and while I was searching/trying to install sendmail (which by the way is a pain), I came accross some info. That is in Postfix there is a 'wrapper' that lets Postfix pretend to be sendmail.... So php would be thinking it's sendmail, but it's actually postfix... The only problem is, I can't find the instructions on enabling/installing this 'wrapper' that I need.... Anyone here know how? Thanks
