    Im having the same difficulty as some of the other guys. I've downloaded both files and followed the instructions to a T, and still cant get it to work.

    Stash, for the file that you mentioned in #127 do you have to also upload something in the js folder or is it just a one time upload?

    It's a single upload and enable — or at least should be. Try it and let me know (here) how it works for you.

    ok I'm making it a single upload
    Now that Mark has allowed it. I will now be able to make the Attachments and file upload to work out of the box in fckeditor. Cannot promise it but I think it shouldn't be a problem.
    I'm looking into YUI RTE as well very nice editor from yahoo.

    I enabled fck editor, but I still don't get the toolbar? Also I have html selected for posts but I'm not seeing that html is working. I wonder if I am doing something wrong.

    bestfoot, I think you are confused as I am before. There are two fckeditor(group of files) that should download. One is the extension you can find on this forum and the other is from http://www.fckeditor.net/download/ which contains the base files I think. When you download the extension from this site you can follow the readme files.

    I have a big problem with encoding stuff. I explained my problem here in this Searching with UTF-8 Character Set # 27 discussion.

    shortly, I need FCKeditor not encode my language characters. How can I do that, I have searched from FCKedior site, actually it says, you can disable xhtml but, I couldn't a way to do it.

    anyone experiencing this, and solve that problem please help me about it.

    Hi! Just a short and simple question: What do i have to do to change the background color of the editors edit area (textarea where you enter the text)? I have read the wiki , the fck forum ... no chance ... wont find anything what would work. i am using famfamfamaluminum as skin (if you need that information) what do i have to do and on which file? Thx for helping!

    After installing this extension, and going to a comment page, and allowing the fckeditor to load, it pops up saying that the "toolbar set vanilla doesn't exist"

    any ideas?

    FCKeditor is overkill, not standards compliant, buggy, scrap it!

    Even if it worked, there is no place for this over-bloated piece of crap and completely out of step with the "vanilla" philosophy.

    Them's my two-bobs' worth.

    HTML formatter and Quicktags is all you need, you're writing a short comment for crying out loud, not a 300 page dissertation!

    yes, but these people are complete computer idiots. they can hardly figure out ms word on their own, let alone html.

    Hmm.. so i've been trying FCK, and it would rock.. except for one little problem (just like all the other editors). I can edit my posts, and post, but when I view the edited posts it is plain text. Then when I edit the post, FCK picks up it's editing and it shows in the edit window all formatted. WTF am I doing wrong? What do I need to change so that the formatting FCK does will show in my posts?

    last time I checked,FCK uses the kses formatter. (it adds its own if needed) Try downloading and installing it from the addons site.

    fys, I tried installing the KSES formatter, but it caused Vanilla to completely crash. FCK includes the KSES formatter already, and trying to add it a second time was a big no-no. I had to manually go into the config and disable, so no harm done! That being said, I found that if I go into the SQL db and change the "DefaultFormat" for the post in question from "FCKeditor" to "HTML", not only does FCK continue to let me edit it with formatting, but it also shows up as being formatted when viewing it. How can I get this to happen all the time for all my posts w/o having to manually change it? or anyone know what's going on?

    I had it working fine with kses; FCK includes an "If kses exists, dont do anything, else add kses" statement...

    I would assume theres a conflict between kses and another formatter (html itself, perhaps...)
