Subscribers paying to use a forum area

edited July 2010 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8
We have a client who needs a forum where some sections/forum categories will be free but some will be on a payment basis. This is because the categories will be for online courses that paid up members will discuss before going on the course but they have to pay a membership fee first.

Does Vanilla do this in any way? Or does anyone know of a forum solution that will do this?

Many thanks

Steve

  • Vanilla can't do that out of box, however, you might create separate groups and move users to these groups as they pay to you, but you'll have to manage all this by yourself.

All major forum solutions (commercial ones) have this feature out of box or in form of a plugin.

You can post pay stuff to certain categories and then create a role for paid users that only have access to those categories.

Check out Categories and Roles & Permissions on your dashboard.
  • Todd: that a good idea.
