punBB to Vanilla 2, any success stories?

I am looking to move an existing punBB forum into Vanilla 2. There are some old posts (from like 2005) of people doing it to Vanilla 1, but that doesn't sound like it will help.

Does anyone know of any good resources or success stories?

It looks like there has been past efforts to get punBB into Vanilla 1:

I'll update here if I have any success.

In short, it worked. You'll need to get the Vanilla 1 software installed somewhere. They have it still available on Google Code. Then do both conversions. The hiccup so far is that all the discussions are only visible when logged in, so there might be some permissions errors or something weird with categories or something. Not sure yet.
