from Smile (vanilla 1) to Emoticons

I've been using the Smile plugin with my forum using Vanilla 1, now that I'm upgrading to Vanilla 2 I can't the smilies to work properly. First of all it searches the images from wrong directory, from the main level but my forum isn't there but in a folder of it's own.
All the new posts I make show the smilies correctly, but they don't show up in old posts made in Vanilla 1, not even if I try to edit the post on Vanilla 2.
Smile plugin also could tell if a smiley was straight after a word, meaning no space in between, like this;) but Emoticons doens't work that way.
Smile also showed all the smilies under the post field which was great, so you just clicked a smiley and it was added to the post.
I hope you can get these problems fixed cuz yours is a good plugin.

Now I also get this:

[image which doesn't show]
" alt=":D" class="emoticon" />
and the image URL seems to be http://plugins/Emoticons/images/filename.gif
