How do you change the path to vanilla?

On my webserver I have www.server.com/vanilla. I would like to change it to www.server.com/forum. Simply changing the folder name causes an error. How do I modify this?

    Did you clear the files in the cache folder?

    If not, delete the ini files in the cache folder.
