Mail sending through SMTP doesn't seem to work

Hello,

I have configured Vanilla to send email notifications through SMTP. I'm hosted at Webfaction.

Even though I have configured it correctly(I use the same settings on other apps), notifications still fail to send. I don't see any error message.

Is SMTP mail sending well tested? Does it have known issues?
