php books advice

edited December 2005 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I feel rather stupid not to have a decent background in php. I know I can handle most basics, but things like OO programming are still a mystery to me. Maybe some of you can advice some good books that are not too hard for a relative beginner but goes into enough depth as well. Or: what took you from beginner to more advanced? Preferably something that touches upon php5.

I learned php on my own, so I don't have any books for you. But I highly recommend php.net. They have the best documentation out there for PHP imho. I use it daily still after a few years of doing php development on and off.
  • You learned OO programming in PHP just by looking at php.net?

I knew oop (theory and use in a few other languages) before I touched php. I learned the syntax of php oop by reading php.net.
  • Thanks. Appreciated.
