Complete Member Anonymity

edited September 2010 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8
I am new to Vanilla forums. Is there a capability to have user information be fully anonymous even to forum administrators for registered users? Certainly users will be identified by some id; however screenname, email, and any profile information would neither be visible to end users or admin.

Exploring use of these forums for a community site where we want to have users register so site is fully public; however, also want to ensure full authenticated user anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the community topic.

  • Vanilla doesn't take a lot of information, username and email. If you turn off the emails viewable to public, then there isnt any personal user information. Username is not exactly personal, if you are having a ID its as good as any. Also with email just don't make it public. The admin will be able to see it, but then again whoever has access to the database will have it too.
  • we still need guest options, allowing guest posts

@sethg This should be pretty easy to accomplish with an addon. We'll look into it.
