Receiving a blank page when installing

I believe this is host-related. I've installed Vanilla fine on my host.

Helping a friend install on his account at dreamhost - I've uploaded the files, however when I go to the domain using the browser, I get a blank page instead of the install screen.

Any ideas?

    more info would be good - php version, webserver info, can you run other php scripts there? does the webserver error log show anything?

    I too am having the same issue. I can easily install phpBB and am currently running Wordpress and Joomla! on my server. I unzipped the vanilla package, uploaded it into my "forums" folder but when I visit the page - BLANK! Nothing. I have changed/messed with permissions but only get a 500 error, then change back and get blank again..

    PLEASE HELP! :)
