Using Vanilla's authentication system?

I know there was mention of a much more easy to integrate authentication class in 0.9.3, has there been any discussion on how it works? I'm curious because I really do love the forum, but I'm reading that 0.9.2 is nearly impossible to integrate into other applications. Thanks.
