Multi-Purpose Posting Forms?

Can Vanilla be used as an answers forum as well as a traditional forum at the same time? In other words, would it be possible to offer a 'type of post' form input category that users may tick off when making a post?

    I have been thinking about the same thing. This could be used for a contact page also. This could probably be achieved by slight modifications and editing the theme for the post page.

    Discussions, pages, and forms.

    As is now there are two ways to define a post: category and tag. Would it make sense to add another definition: type of post?

    Type of post could be an image, question, news, biz listing . . . Would something like this make sense or would it be preferable to just rely on tags to define these things?
