Move announcements to bottom of discussion list

This was recently requested by a member on one of my forums and I realized that's a good point. Users see the same messages announced at the top of the list everyday, so they take away from the "freshness" of other threads with recent posts... having them at the bottom would eliminate this problem yet still keep the posts on the main page for new users to peruse. How would one accomplish this change?

Maybe a better option would be to allow "regular users" to hide/unhide individual announcements? Like the message bar function. Not sure how you would do this, but I am sure it could a plugin, and would be based on permissions.
  • Following @adriansonline 's idea, I think it would fit best if, for an announcement, you would have the kind of option an admin / moderator has to close/announce the discussion (that Options button at the right of the discussion index). I'm not sure how to go about this and don't have time, but just an idea of how I would find the interface intuitive.
