More fields in user profile?

I'd really like to have more fields in user profiles. Preferably admin defined fields. I looked and found an About Me plugin which, 1 didn't really look like what I wanted because it adds tons of preset and inapplicable to me fields, 2 claimed to be half written and buggy in it's readme and 3 wouldn't actually turn on once I uploaded it.

Suggestions? It seems kinda pathetic that Vanilla doesn't have something like this. I mean there isn't even a place for users to put their website url on their profile.

    It's not pathetic... the reason Vanilla 2 works so well is because of all the attention to functionality and conversation flow. The fact that they took the time to create profiles is what matters, customizing them should be something that any developer can do.
