Simple Question - how do I produce an RSS of forum posts
Thanks for the help earlier...
I see RSS plugins are available for esoteric things like importing forum posts but I can't see any available for promoting posts off the forum page...
Surely there must be a way to produce an RSS feed of posts as it's such an obvious need?
Any Plugins available because I can't find any for Vanilla 2?
Thanks,
Tim
ps it seems highly likely the way this board is put together anyway!

Are you looking for something else?
http://stonesfield.com/vanillaforums-Garden-8225188/discussions/feed.rss
but not at:
http://stonesfield.com/forum/discussions/feed.rss
Although http://stonesfield.com/forum.html#/discussions/feed.rss produces an RSS feed but not valid RSS.
Yes, subsequent test posts produce a feed, but not the first post...
Looking at your forum, it seems like the feed is correctly linked. Specifically, I looked at the HTML being generated and found this:
<link href="http://stonesfield.com/vanillaforums-Garden-8225188/discussions/feed.rss" title="All Discussions - Stonesfield Web Forum" type="application/rss+xml" rel="alternate">
That is the correct path to the feed. I alluded to this in a previous post: the folder name "vanillaforums-Garden-822518" is automatically part of the URL. Linking to forum/discussions/feed.rss would be useless, because your vanilla install is not in a folder called forum/. Do you follow?

Anyway, it's working now although now i'm uncertain what "Force your forum to be viewed through the Remote Url" is doing....?
On another point, my image uploads aren't being displayed correctly.
The broken image is reference at .../vanillaforums-Garden-8225188/uploads/userpics/example.jpg
IHowever, no images have appeared in my uploads folder after adding my photo (a small jpg).....
So if someone visited http://stonesfield.com/vanillaforums-Garden-8225188/discussion/1/welcome-to-stonesfields-forum, if that box was checked you would be redirected to http://stonesfield.com/forum.html#/discussion/1/welcome-to-stonesfields-forum immediately.
You mentioned that the RSS, as viewed through the embed page, was not well formed. This makes a lot of sense because it is being viewed inside an IFRAME within your non RSS XML compliant page (HTML content, with RSS in the middle). The reason the correct URL is a direct one is so that there is no extra data surrounding the RSS.
