So that URL would get you the first 10 comments in this discussion. p2/10 would get you the 2nd 10 comment. p5/50 would get you the 5th page, where each page has 50 comments.
Unfortunately we no longer directly support Vanilla 1.x, and I myself have never even installed it, let alone looked at the code. The only way to really get an answer to this is to see if the community at large can help you. There are people in here who have used and contributed to Vanilla 1.
