Possibility to not show certain categories in the discussions page

It would be great to have option to block discussions in certain categories in the front page, either a forum admin option or personal option. So that if a board is big, I could easily follow the discussions in categories I like, like CGTalk for example, the forum has alot of categories but I only follow few.

i know i'd like to be able to block certain discussions from the front page. i started a thread up a while back but didn't get a lot of comments.

Say you want to block everything but two categories?

Only problem is, sticky threads don't end up on top.

Um. if you just want to block out certain categories, why not just block those categories? What did i miss?
