Has anyone succesfully used attachments in vanilla 1.1.9

Not finding the answer here, I googled to find sites running 1.1.9. Of the 75-100 I located, none were uploading attachments. The closest thing I found was autolinks, which I am already using. I can say attachments 2.1 works perfectly on 1.0.3, but this particular server is running php5, forcing me to certain versions of vanilla.
