Hi,

When a new user signs up to my forum via Twitter or Facebook an email is sent to "......@foo.com"

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Comments

  • Anyone?
  • According to @Todd this is a known issue

There was an error rendering this rich post.

  • @ddumont thanks for letting me know.
  • was there a fix for this? is it an issue?
  • @foo.com appears to be hard coded into class.twitter.plugin.php. I'm not familiar enough with the plugin system (yet) to offer a fix. :(
  • I have same issue, where the fix is ?
  • i have the same problem.

Experiencing similar / related problems. I mentioned this on one of the Vanilla blogs but I'm posting again here to properly address the issue:

On a fresh install of Vanilla 2.0.17.9, using the Twitter signin (I haven't tested the Facebook one yet):

It's more than just the email sent to ..@foo.com on registration. Even if a user has an existing account on my Vanilla forums, it won't recognize their account (because it thinks the emails don't match?), so creates a new account with the ..@foo.com email address.

Also possibly related: The new account via Twitter signin seems to ignore my forum's registration setting that normally requires an invitation for new members. It just creates it, with no request for an invitation code.
  • Same problem here. Is it a problem with the vanilla system or does Twitter provides mail IDs with foo.com endings to protect user's privacy??

There's some hardcoded part in this plugin with foo.com but it might just be a default value to use in case it doesn't find something.
  • Same problem, please fix!
