Why can´t I se the plugins that I install

Hi. I have just installed vanilla2 and try to find out how it works I have several problems.
1. I have unzipped a couple of plugins and moved them to the plugin folder on my own server, but I can not se the plugins in the dashbord- plugins and therefore not manage them.
2. Same problem with locales. I have uploaded to the server but it is not to se in "locales" in addons in the dashbord.
3. I can not manage the avartar. No feature for uploading pictures.

What is wrong.

have you checked the file permissions of the folders you uploaded?

Regarding point 3, please make sure you have php-gd installed on the host machine.
