Testing SMTP Settings - Troubleshooting
First of all let me say that I am using Google Apps for my email.
So, under Settings > Outgoing Email I checked the "Use an SMTP server to send email" checkbox and filled the required infromation under SMTP Host field, SMTP user and SMTP password. I have also checked the SSL SMTP Security and port 465.
Whenever I tried to make the application send an email notification nothing happened. No error on Vanilla, no email received. I also changed the SMTP security to either none or TLS, changing the port as required from Google Apps. Nothing happened on any case.
Only after I enabled localhost as a mail server I was able to get an email notification.
So my question is this: How can I troubleshoot the email notification system, in order to find out why I cannot get notifications when using Google Apps?
Thank you very much
