Last RSS for Vanilla: Problem

Recently I have installed the "Last RSS for Vanilla" Plugin. It works fine for some feeds, but I have problems, with other RSS feeds that never update (but work perfectly with my RSS-Reader).
Now, I have noticed that an URL in a message did not work properly, too. The link ignored the brackets '( )', which were part of that URL. I realised that all faulty RSS-feeds also include brackets like ..../journal/10.1111/(ISSN)1467-xxx
It seems that the problem is caused in the way vanilla processes urls rather than by the plugin.
Is there a way to fix this?
