Add an instant messenger to Vanilla

IntraMessenger is a different instant messenger, can authenticate (login+password) through Vanilla.
Users dont need to be connected in Vanilla, they can contact your community (with their Vanilla account)
without give their personnal msn/yahoo email address.

Server is PHP/MySQL (same Vanilla) make easy for the administrator to choise all options, for display, contact manage, lock...

    but easy to install (same as install forum)...

    It is good for communicate in a community and give instant reply.

    The client is a windows executable. So it would be completely separate from you site (although you might be able to authenticate with your forums credentials). I do not think that this is good for building/supporting a community.
