Disable "social" features? Need simple, pure forum

Hi. I am thinking of integrating Vanilla forums with a membership plugin with wordpress. The forums is just an extra place to post things. I do not want any of the profile, or facebook-esque features of posting a random little comment on your profile, etc. Is it simple enough just to delete the code that renders this? I dont want to just delete the links, because I am afraid people will just access profiles, etc directly by the URL.

I was hoping there was a "feature" menu in the admin area to simply turn things off, but there isn't, as you of course know. I am pretty sold on Vanilla, but if I can't turn this off, it's allowing too much for my site unfortunately.
