I want to integrate Vanilla with my other software, how to do?

I have a software installed on my root and i want install vanilla on the root too..
i thinking about rename the vanilla's index.php to home.php... is there any other solution, i just want my site like what vanillaforums.org where the homepage isnt the forum but it stand on the root
