how to integrate with Elgg?

We have run a social network web site powered by Elgg.
We think your Vanilla forums are fascinating, but we wonder how we integrate it to our platform. Checking your website, we found an integration instruction with Drupal, but we could not find it with Elgg.

Can you inform us about integration Vanilla and Elgg?

There is a free plugin that bridges Elgg 1.7 with Vanilla version 1.1.7, but it's discontinued. Maybe it's a starting point for someone who would make Elgg 1.8 compatible with Vanilla 2, but there's not much out there.

I added a new Elgg 1.8.3 integration with the new version of Vanilla. it is only the first version but it is good way to start with.
