[SOLVED] SEO related quick question. Sub-domain or Sub-directory? Founder Mark views on this.

edited February 2011 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8
Sometime, back in vanilla discussions, Mark, the Vanilla forms founder said -"The best way to get great SEO is to create a forum on a subdomain of your domain"

Well, is it equally good for sub-directory? I wanted to install vanilla in my WP powered blog gtricks.com as gtricks.com/forum/ . Or should I go for forum.gtricks.com.

Regards,
Abhishek

Mark answered - anything will do. Sub-directory is better :)

  • The answer is generally a subdirectory. The reason is a subdirectory is generally acknowledged to generate more trust or “link equity” for your main domain than a subdomain.
