Show a portion of a post?

Is there any way to capture/include a line or two from a forum post and display it with the title in the discussions list? Kind of like an RSS feed displays a title, and a line or two from the content. We'd like to display more info in the discussions view so visitors can get a sense of each post without having to open every one. If there's no plugin or enhancement for this sort of thing, can anyone suggest where to look to modify the template/structure of the discussions list?

I think you are looking for something that's called an "excerpt"
And ... we have a plugin for that
