I was wondering about the VBSEO features compare to Vanilla SEO?
http://www.vbseo.com/en/feature-matrix/

Would also like to know the experience of the Vanilla Community in getting their Forum Posts Ranking in Search Engines.

I think it could be way better, some improvements that would make a nice change:

    - Use H1 tag around the Post title
    - Use P tags around paragraphs of text
    - option to have category url included in post url (and let it be the canonical one) e.g:
    forum/discussion/566/cms/wordpress/how-to-install
    - sitemap generator
    - TITLE tag for a post should also contain category text: e.g. CMS | Wordpress - how to install (category texts for title use should be special field that can be set manually)
    - use of meta description tag, for a post page it should contain the first 160 characters or so of the opening post, for category pages it should contain the category description
    - meta description should be filled in category paste. google now provides "howdy stranger" as text for category pages
    - etc.

most of it should not be too much work as it requires just a few lines of code change in php and css

i think theres a new type of optimization that is becoming even more important.. smo (social media optimization). how forum links are displayed when posted to facebook, and how the forum enables sharing on sites like twitter and tumblr

doesnt it add only the meta description and keywords tags? imo a lot more could be done and it's not even that much work. i'm now trying out some improvements in a custom theme

    We clearly need better URLs.

Anyone know how to write plugin or modification to process URLs?

I have been using MYBB with the Google SEO pluging to good effect to get some search traffic, not yet tested out Vanilla SEO quality but imho, this is perhaps a weak point compared to other software
