Should Discussion in Nested Category Show Up?

edited February 2011 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8
With the new nested categories when a post is added to a nested category it add to the count in both the nested category and the parent category in the category module and category page. Going to the discussion lists for the two categories, the post will only show up in the nested category. Is this the intended behavior? If not which way do you all feel would be intuitive for users?

I would say so but I was hoping it were corrected to be where discussions from all of the nested categories would show up in the root category and making it so discussions can't be posted in root categories. Changing permissions did not work for me when I tested it with a test user account but it might just be me.

I think your way would be more intuitive than the way we have now only if the root category in the categories sidebar box aren't linked and stay bolded to indicate a parent forum clearly and have another homepage view be created for "root categories only," if you know what I mean.

Add Pages to Vanilla with the Basic Pages app

You could probably create routes to send the request for your root cats to a custom page. I'm going to start poking around in the DiscussionsController.
