Integrating Vanilla with CMS

Is it possible to make close integration as with Addons application on this site?
I want to see all related discussions below article and see "Related to ... " message on top of the first post in each discussion.
Any ideas? I know that AddOn app uses simple AddonID parameter in URL.

I am not using WordPress, it is rare CMS.

    It generates static shtml (made for high load sites).
    So I just want to integrate Vanilla output via SSI.

    If you want to mark 1 discussion that's related to another discussion you will need to add a field somewhere and adjust the code so it knows those discussions are related.
    Think really deeply about the functionality.
    Do you want 1 discsussion related to 1 other discussion
    or
    Do you want 1 discsussion related to many other discussions?

    I want discussions to be related to certain article (and placed via SSI below this article).
    Same as it is now with Addons on this site.
